Overlake Squadron Exceeds 2011 Growth Target

Local Civil Air Patrol Squadron grows 32 percent in 2011.

An effective recruiting and retention program has allowed Redmond-based Overlake Composite Squadron to enjoy robust growth during the first seven months of the year, beating growth forecasts for all of 2011. 

The squadron is currently the third largest in Washington, after beginning the year at number 10, out of 27 units. 

A member satisfaction survey currently being conducted sheds some light on the reason for this success. Cadets, adults, and parents of cadets said they were excited about the opportunities for:

- High-quality leadership training

- Camaraderie with peers 

More than 85 percent of the membership say they plan to remain with the unit next year.  

And 92 percent of the respondents are ‘very satisfied’ with their experiences at Overlake Squadron. 

If you are 12-17 years old with an interest in aviation or the military, plan to visit one of our Tuesday evening meetings at the resource center located in the .  

There are also opportunities for adults as pilots, medical, finance, legal, and ex-service members.
