Community Day of Service - Many service projects available for families with children of all ages

Community Day of Service — May 10, 2014

Five hundred volunteers from Sammamish and Issaquah to rally and help 30 Seattle  not-for-profits in a single workday

Sammamish Hills Lutheran and Pine Lake Covenant Churches will engage hundreds of Sammamish and Issaquah volunteers to roll up their sleeves and work at numerous not-for-profit organizations in the Seattle for the Community Day of Service on May 10, 2014.

Event organizers anticipate mobilizing 500 volunteers to work at almost 30 local not-for-profit organizations throughout Seattle.

 The event officially begins at 8:30 a.m. as the pastors of both churches and the event leadership team gathers at Sammamish Hills Lutheran Church, 2818 SE 8th Street in Sammamish, for an invocation to kick off the day’s service projects.

This marks the third year for this community-wide initiative originated by Sammamish Hills Lutheran Church. More than 300 volunteers signed on to serve in last year’s event. 

This year, Sammamish Hills Lutheran Church is partnering with Pine Lake Covenant Church. The day will conclude with celebrations at each church featuring dinner and a slideshow chronicling the day’s events. 

"We’re excited to join hands with our friends at Pine Lake Covenant Church. As communities of faith, this is an opportunity for us to share God’s love and grace,” says Pastor John LaMunyon, senior pastor at Sammamish Hills Lutheran Church. “And we hope to inspire people across all walks of life to experience the joy of offering the humble gift of service.”

“We’re really excited to be involved with Sammamish Hills Lutheran church. We hope this becomes an annual event for our church as it has for Sammamish Hills Lutheran,” says Mark Meredith, lead pastor at Pine Lake Covenant Church. "We’re glad to help other organizations that are on the front lines making a difference in people’s lives every day.”

Sammamish Hills Lutheran Church is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Pine Lake Covenant Church is a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church.
