Anonymous Web Poster Threatened to Bring Submachine Gun to Sammamish High School

The Sammamish Police Department released further information this morning about an anonymous threat made last night about Skyline High School on an open web forum. Anyone with information is asked to call the King County Sheriff's Office.

Skyline High School is closed today after police and Issaquah School District officials received word of a school shooting threat late last night, the Sammamish Police Department said in a press release.

The threat was anonymously posted on the website 4chan.org around 9 p.m. The poster specifically identified Skyline High School and stated he or she intended to bring a submachine gun to school and open fire in the commons area. The threat went on to state that the person would continue shooting until stopped by police or he or she ran out of magazines. The post included a photo of a submachine gun.

After the threat appeared online, the King County Sheriff’s Office 911 center received nearly 100 calls from concerned citizens from as far away as Pennsylvania who had seen the post and were concerned by its contents.

Investigators have not identified the source of the threat, but they have received a number of leads. Anyone who believes they may have information regarding the source of the threat is asked to call the King County Sheriff’s Office at 206-296-3311.

The website, 4chan.org, is an image based bulletin board where anyone can post comments and share images. The post was removed around 11 p.m.

Skyline High School is part of the Issaquah School District and is located in Sammamish.  The school has approximately 2000 students in grades 9-12.
