Update: Motorcyclist Pronounced Dead at Harborview

The accident involving one vehicle occurred this morning on Lakemont Boulevard, just south of Bellevue. The road was closed for at least two hours.

Update, Aug. 10, 1:30 p.m.:

The King County Sheriff's Office said this afternoon that a motorcyclist was apparently travelling Eastboung on Newcastle Golf Club Road and failed to negotiate a left bend in the road, striking the guard rail.  The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center and was pronounced dead.

There were no witnesses to the accident; a driver passing by on that road found him and called for help.

The man has not been identified at this time, and at this time it is not believed alcohol was a factor in the accident, but the investigation is ongoing.

Eastside Fire and Rescue responded to the scene of a fatal one-vehicle motorcycle accident in unincorporated King County, just south of Bellevue.

The accident happened on a curve of Lakemont Blvd, just near the Cougar Mountain wildlife area.

King County Sheriff Sgt. Crenshaw said the adult man was deceased at the scene, though life saving efforts were still under way. No information was available about what city he is from.

There were no witnesses to the accident, but major crimes and accident reconstruction teams were on the way to the scene as of about 10:15 a.m.

The road will likely remain closed in the vicinity of the accident for several hours. Engines and medics from Station #89 responded to the accident around 9:30 this morning.
