Crash on SR 202 Sends Motorcyclist to Hospital

A 43-year-old Issaquah man was knocked from his motorcycle on SR 202 near Sammamish after he was stuck by a black Subaru Forrester as it tried to leave the Shell Gas Station.

A 43-year-old Issaquah was rushed to Harborview Medical Center last night after a car leaving a gas station crossed in front of him on State Route 202 Wednesday evening, the Washington State Patrol reported.

The man, identified as Timothy J. Wartchow, was driving his KTM 690 motorcycle eastbound on SR 202 just past 244th Avenue NE near Sammamish when he was stuck by a black Subaru Forrester as it tried to leave the Shell Gas Station parking lot heading westbound at 5:09 p.m.

The state patrol said that the force of the collision sent ejected Wartchow 30 feet and the motorcycle came to rest in the right shoulder.

The driver of the Subaru, a 31-year-old Carnation woman and three children as passengers, were un-injured.

Traffic was blocked for 3 and a half hours while troopers investigated the scene. The incident remains under investigation.
