Driver in Sammamish Starbucks Crash Not Cited, Police Say

The 52-year-old Issaquah woman was driving legally with a medical boot on her foot when she crashed into a Sammamish Starbucks, injuring three people.

The Sammamish Police Department said in a news release that the driver of a Nissan Pathfinder that does not face any charges in the accident, which happened at 5 p.m. Monday, July 9.

The 52-year-old Issaquah woman sustained a minor burn from the airbag deployment. Sammamish Police said in the release that the woman was attempting to park in front of at Pine Lake Plaza but her foot was in a protective boot, which is legal to wear while driving. Her foot slipped off the brake pedal and she inadvertently accelerated into the building.Β 

Three people inside Starbucks sustained minor injuries, a 26-year-old Kent woman, a 49-year-old Sammamish man, and an 18-year-old Sammamish woman. All three were transported to the hospital as a precaution.

"This was an accident in the truest sense of the word and we are relieved the injuries to those inside the store were not more serious," Sammamish Police Sergeant Jessica Sullivan said in the release.
