DUI Crash on I-90 Near Issaquah Injures Two Early Sunday Morning

The State Patrol is investigating the crash on I-90 near Issaquah and says a Mercedes with two people in it rear-ended a BMW carrying four. A passenger in the Mercedes and a passenger in the BMW were injured and taken to area hospitals.

The State Patrol is investigating a potential vehicular assault case after a 27-year-old Seattle man driving a Mercedes Benz rear-ended another vehicle on Interstate 90 near Issaquah early Sunday morning, injuring two.

A State Patrol press memo said drugs and/or alcohol appeared to be a factor in the crash, which occurred at about 3:56 a.m. Sunday on I-90 just east of West Lake Sammamish Parkway.

The Seattle man was at the wheel of a Mercedes westbound on I-90 with one passenger when it hit from behind a BMW driven by a 22-year-old Bellevue man with three passengers.

The Mercedes came to a stop in the median, and the BMW pulled over on the left side of the freeway.

Injured and taken to Swedish Hospital in Seattle was a 24-year-old Sammamish woman, a passenger in the Mercedes. A 22-year-old Seattle man, a passenger in the BMW, was also injured and taken to Overlake Hospital in Bellevue.

Neither driver was injured, nor two other passengers in the BMW.

Both vehicles were impounded by the State Patrol, which is continuing to investigate.
