Eastside Fire and Rescue to Hold Open Houses

Three stations in Sammamish will be open to visitors on Saturday, Oct. 15.

Several stations will be open to visitors on Saturday, Oct. 15 as part of national Fire Prevention Week.

Between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm on Saturday, visitors are encouraged to drop by any one of the eight stations on the eastside taking part in the event and visit with the firefighters, tour the station, check out the fire engines and pick up fire safety tips as well as flood and emergency information.

"We hope we can get people to come on in," said Josie Williams, Eastside Fire and Rescue's public information officer.

As part of Fire Prevention week, Eastside Fire and Rescue and other fire departments across the country are stressing fire safety education. According to Eastside Fire and Rescue, the theme for this year is "Protect your family from fire."

Eastside Fire and Rescue hopes to pass on fire safety tips like proper smoke detector maintenance and the importance of escape planning. "That's a really big thing," Williams said.

Williams also said that practicing your escape plan is as important as putting the plan together and hopes that families will take this week to give real thought to fire safety.

Eastside Fire and Rescue stations in Sammamish that will be open to the public on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm:

  • Station 81: 2030 212th Avenue Southeast Β 
  • Station 82: 1851 228th Avenue Northeast
  • Station 83: 3425 Issaquah-Pine Lake Road Southeast
