Eastside Fire & Rescue Outlines Fireworks Ordinances in Sammamish and Other Area Cities

The fire agency, which has three stations in Sammamish, is asking area residents to be safe during the Fourth of July.

Fireworks can be fun and exciting for the entire family, but they can also be very dangerous to human life and property. Each year Eastside Fire & Rescue responds to fireworks complaints, injuries and fireworks related fire emergencies. Be sure to check the fireworks regulations for your area:

City of North Bend  -  NBMC Ch.8.20.40 Fireworks – Retail sale and discharge of fireworks. 

As a reminder, only common fireworks are legal within the City of North Bend, and may only be discharged between 9 a.m. and 12 midnight on July 4.

  • Only common fireworks are legal for sale to the public.
  • It is unlawful to sell fireworks to any persons under the age of 16 years. The seller shall require proof of age by means of display of a Washington State Driver’s License or photo identification card issued by the Washington State Department of Licensing. No other form of identification shall be accepted.
  • The sale of any fireworks prior to 12:00 noon on June 28 or after 11 p.m. on July 4 of each year is prohibited, except where otherwise provided in this chapter.
  • The possession, use or discharge of any fireworks are prohibited at all times, except between 9 a.m. and midnight on July 4 each year, except where otherwise provided in this chapter.

City of Issaquah IMC 8.12 Fireworks – Retail sale and discharge of fireworks.

  • Sale and discharge of all fireworks within the City of Issaquah are banned except where otherwise provided in the Municipal Code (Public displays with City permit). 

City of Carnation – Ordinance 639

  • Sale and discharge of all fireworks within the City of Carnation are banned except where otherwise provided in the Municipal Code (Public displays with City permit).

City of Sammamish – Ordinance 02000-65

  • Sale and discharge of all fireworks within the City of Sammamish are banned except where otherwise provided in the Municipal Code (Public displays with City permit).

Unincorporated King County

  • Fireworks may be discharged only from 9 a.m. to midnight.
  • Fireworks sales are legal beginning at noon on June 28 until 11 p.m. and then daily between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m. through July 4. No sales can occur after July 4.
  • To purchase fireworks you must be at least 16 years of age with picture identification.
