Federal Pornography Charges Against Andrew Rekdahl Dismissed Upon His Death

A federal defense attorney has confirmed to Patch that the case against the Issaquah bus driver and former Eastside Catholic teacher was continued due to his condition and dismissed upon his passing.

Lynn Hartfield, a federal defense attorney who represented Carnation resident Andrew Rekdahl, confirmed to Patch via email that pornography charges against him have been dropped.

"I am Mr. Rekdahl's attorney, and you are correct that he was never convicted of the child pornography charges, and that the charges have now been dismissed," Hartfield wrote. "The case was originally continued due to Mr. Rekdahl's very serious medical condition, and was dismissed upon his death."

Rekdahl after a lengthy battle with cancer, dating back to 2010.

Rekdahl, once a well-liked science teacher at Eastside Catholic, had battled intestinal cancer, and students held fundraisers in 2011 to raise money for his treatment.
