Firefighers Battle Brush Fires in Klahanie, Sammamish, Tiger Mountain

Firefighters responded to reports of three brush fires in the area on Aug. 20.

Eastside Fire & Rescue crews raced from hot spot to hot spot putting out several minor brush fires as hot temperatures and dry conditions Tuesday in Sammamish, Klahanie and Issaquah.

Three fire engines responded to reports of a tree burning and a brush fire on the 4500 Klahanie Drive, in the Highland Gardens neighborhood at 1:53 p.m. The fire was quickly extinguished at 2:37 p.m.

Eastside Firefighters earlier extinguished a brush fire between two houses in Sammamish on the 3400 block of East Lake Sammamish Drive at 12:48 p.m. Firefighters located the smokey, smouldering fire, 5 ft. away from the homes and causing smoke damage to the property. A neighbor helped put water on the fire using a hose, which was eventually put out at 12:59 p.m.

Early signs of fire danger on Tuesday came in on Initial reports of a fire at the Tiger Mountain trailhead came in at 8:37 a.m. when passers by said they saw smoke emerging from two small areas on south side of the road. EF&R crews were unable to find signs of fire damage in the area.

"Temps expected to be in the 90s this week! Besides warm weather conditions for all, fire danger has increased. You can help!" tweeted EF&R spokesperson Josie Williams. "Brush fires don't typically start on their own. Talk to your children about potential fire danger and helping keep us all safer!"
