4th of July Busy for Eastside Fire & Rescue
While most of us were on holiday, local firefighters were hopping due to fireworks hazards.
Somewhere between local residents, smoke bombs, and fireworks-related barn and car fires, stood Eastside Fire & Rescue workers and the Washington State Patrol bomb squad over the Fourth of July holiday.
Trooper Cliff Pratt, on duty with the Washington State Patrol bomb squad, told Patch on Friday that he had little rest over the holiday. Meanwhile, Eastside Fire & Rescue responded to a number of both unintentional and apparently intentional fires between July 2 and July 5, including a car fire that began after a resident in Fire District 10 went around the neighborhood collecting fireworks debris.
While fireworks were legal on July 4 in unincorporated King County, personal fireworks are illegal at all times in both Sammamish and Issaquah.
