Armed Issaquah Man Arrested for Allegedly Threatening Police

Issaquah police caught up with the 44-year-old man Wednesday after a Feb. 24 incident in which he allegedly told customers in the Fred Meyer store that he was going to "kill the cops."

A 44-year-old Issaquah man has been booked into the King County Jail in Seattle after allegedly threatening to shoot an Issaquah police officer while armed late last month.

The man was arrested Wednesday after being pulled over on Northwest Gilman Boulevard when an officer either spotted his car or recognized him as a man who had threatened officers on Feb. 24, said Issaquah Police Det. Sgt. Kevin Nash.

In the Feb. 24 incident, the man had been stopped for a minor traffic offense and allegedly became enraged, telling that officer he had a 9mm handgun with him. Issaquah police say the man was handcuffed as a safety precaution and the gun found in his waistband. He had a concealed weapon permit and was then released with a warning.

Police say soon after the man went to the Fred Meyer store on Lake Sammamish Parkway, where he saw another officer and began telling people in the store he was going to “shoot the cop” and “tell them I’m going to kill the cops.”

He left the store, however, and police were unable to locate him.

Police spotted him Wednesday and arrested him on suspicion of felony harassment. Officers also found a gun believed to be the same he was carrying during the prior incident. He was jailed on bail of $200,000.

We too, love having our Farmers' Market return! Opening day was a bit weather-challenged. ThankRead More you merchants for enduring the wet and cold for our new extended hours! What a wonderful sight will return to the plaza when the sunshine calls back all the families with happy, giggling children. Market day is a date of dinner out (side) & shopping (vegetables, fruits and now HedgeHog Toffee) with my husband. Doesn't get much better than that! SEE YOUR THERE! Susan Gerend
