King County Sheriffs ID Dead Home Intruder in North Bend

The King County Sheriff's Office released the name of a suspected home intruder in North Bend who was subsequently stabbed to death by homeowners on Monday, May 13.

KCSO spokesperson deputy Kathleen Larson said Kenneth Boonstra, a 48 year old white male living in North Bend, was the man killed after he had broken into a North Bend home.

"At this point we are confident that Boonstra is the same suspect that broke into this residence 12 hours earlier and assaulted and robbed the victim," Larson said. "However we are awaiting DNA testing for positive confirmation."

According to the sheriff's office, Boonstra does not have a criminal history.

Duct tape recovered at the scene is undergoing forensic tests to conclusively determine if the suspect brought the tape or took it from elsewhere in the home, according to the KCSO. The results of the tests could take several weeks.

The family is requesting "time to process what has happened" and declined to release a statement or publicly comment on the incident.
