King County Sheriff's Office Enters the World of Facebook - With Humor, to Boot

The city of Sammamish receives its police protection through a contract with the King County Sheriff's Office.

If you think that law enforcement officials always have a Stoical image when dealing with the public - a "just-the-facts-let's-get-to-the-bottom-of-this-incident-could-you-please-have-that-person-stand-over-there" approach to life - have a look at this news release from the King County Sheriff's Office.

Sgt. John Urquhart, spokesman for the office, issued it Friday. Here it is, verbatim:

After much thought, the Sheriff's Office has come to the conclusion that Facebook might not be just a passing fad after all.....and has jumped into the digital age with both feet!

We’ve got a Facebook account!

'This gives us another exciting opportunity to communicate with citizens,' said Sheriff Sue Rahr. 'And for them to communicate with us!' she added. 'I know we are not the first police agency to have a ‘Facebook page,’ but at least we are not the last!'

(Actually, we probably are the last. But who’s counting?)
