DUI: Sammamish police arrested a 19-year-old Sammamish man for driving under the influence after he was pulled over for aggressive driving. Police had spotted the man drive through a roundabout on Northeast Inglewood Hill Road at a high rate of speed, causing his red Ford Mustang to fishtail through the roundabout. Police pulled the vehicle over and made contact with the driver and three other occupants.

Police immediately suspected the driver of being intoxicated and asked if he had been drinking. The driver said that he had not. The man appeared nervous, prompting the police to ask what he was nervous about. The man said that he had never been pulled over in such a manner and was afraid of losing his spot on the Washington State University football team. The driver declined to take a breath test but did volunteer for a field sobriety test, which he failed.

Police took the man into custody. He later submitted two Breathalyzer tests, blowing a .182 and a .168. The man stated that he would probably get kicked off the football team and that his father would be angry because he was probably going to lose his scholarship. Police released the man into a friend’s custody and forwarded charging recommendations of driving under the influence and reckless driving.
