VIDEO: Burglary Suspect Nabbed on Tiger Mountain After High Speed Chase

A 27-year-old Issaquah man was caught in the woods on Tiger Mountain after attempting to run over an officer and leading Sheriff's deputies on a high speed chase on Highway 18.

A man that led police on a high speed chase and then ran into the woods to hide was arrested today after being spotted by the King County Sheriff’s Office Guardian1 helicopter.

The incident started just before noon today in the 19500 block of Maxwell Rd.  A deputy was patrolling the neighborhood and spotted the suspect who appeared to be attempting to burglarize a house in the area. 

When the suspect saw the deputy he ran to his car and drove away.  The deputy stopped the vehicle near SE208 and Maxwell Rd.  When the deputygot out of his car the man tried to run the deputy over and sped away.

The deputy initiated a pursuit and chased the suspect on Hwy 18 towards I-90. The deputy “pitted” the vehicle near mile post 27 and the suspect fled into the woods on foot.

Guardian 1 arrived and searched the area from the air as deputies searched for the suspect on foot. A pilot saw a “hot spot” in the woods a few feet off highway 18 and directs deputies to the location. The suspect was found hiding under heavy brush in the area.

The 27 year old Issaquah man was arrested and booked into the King County Jail.

At 12:16:10 minutes, the video shows the suspect hiding using the FLIR and then the camera switches back to normal view.  It clearly shows how well the FLIR works even in the daytime.
