Update: North Bend Man Identified

Donald R. Jones was killed Saturday night when his jeep crashed into a tree on I-90 at North Bend.

Update: Washington State Patrol officers said the King County Medical Examiner has identified Donald R. Jones as the man killed Saturday night when his jeep crashed into a tree on I-90 at North Bend. 

The cause of the accident is still under investigation, the WSP said in a press release this morning.

A 52-year-old North Bend man died last night when his car veered off the highway on I-90 and struck a tree, near the North Bend Boulevard exit.

Washington State Patrol officers said the man, who was driving a turquoise 1994 Jeep Wrangler, died at the scene. The police report indicated that he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, and they are investigating whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.

Eastside Fire & Rescue units responded to the scene of the accident, which was reported just before midnight.

The man’s name has not been released pending notification of his family.
