Pedestrian in E. Lake Sammamish Parkway Accident in Intensive Care

The 18-year-old Sammamish man is expected to survive, police detectives said.

An 18-year-old Sammamish man who apparently dove headfirst in front of an oncoming car on East Lake Sammamish Parkway on Saturday is in intensive care, and is expected to survive, the King County Sheriff's Office said Thursday.

Initially, the man was in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center after being struck by a 2008 Buick driven by a 62-year-old Arizona man, Sergeant Cindi West said. The driver was heading southbound on East Lake Sammamish Parkway SE in the 4200 block and saw the pedestrian standing by the west Jersey barrier.

When the driver was about 5 feet from the pedestrian—the pedestrian apparently dove headfirst under the right front side of his vehicle and was run over by the right side tires and wheels, West said.
