Police Arrest DUI Suspect After 20-Minute Pursuit — Sammamish Police Blotter

The following information from April 27 - May 4 was supplied by the Sammamish Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A 20-minute high-speed chase through Sammamish and Klahanie ended in arrest of a drunk local man in the early morning hours of April 27.

A Sammamish Police patrol officer noticed a blue Honda Accord driving east on the 24200 block of Issaquah Fall City Road at 4:14 a.m. was trying to ellude him by accelerating away as he drove over the crest of a hill and suspected the driver was impaired. A police pursuit began and the officer followed the driver west on Klahanie Blvd and on to Duthie Hill Rd., reaching speeds up to 75 mph and blowing through several stop signs.

The man braked and eluded the patrol car at Issaquah Fall City Road, but crashed the car a short time later on the 26600 block. The man abandoned the car, but the officer later recognized him and arrested him at 4:36 am. Police later took possession of various drug paraphernalia located inside the car.

April 27
Suspicious Person
A teenage girl complained to a passerby at 4:20 p.m. in the 2000 block of Trossachs Blvd. SE that a suspicious man was watching children and teens leaving a nearby school as he sat in his car. The man, the girl said, "was really creeping her out" and soon left when others strarted to notice him. The man is described as a white male in his 50s, wore shoulder-length salt-and-pepper hair with an unkept beard.

April 28
Attempted Burglary
Police investigating a residential house alarm in the 800 block of Windsor Drive SE discovered a rear kitchen door of a house wide open but found no one inside at 2:07 p.m. Later that evening, the homeowner contacted police and told the officer that the door was pried open. Nothing appeared to be missing from inside, however.

License Suspended
A Seattle man driving northbound on East Lake Sammamish Parkway at 11:23 p.m. said he was completely unaware he was driving with a suspended license after police pulled his turquoise Kia Rio over. The man pled guilty to a negligent driving charge two years ago and he suspected the license may have been cancelled at that time.

April 29
Suspicious Circumstances
A 37-year-old woman suspected her husband might act on suicidal tendencies when he left the home unannounced in a silver Honda CRV at 7:15 p.m. Police officers were speaking to the woman when the husband returned about an hour later. "I just wanted to leave, so I left," the man said. "I understand why you are here, but I'm fine."

April 30
Mysterious Caller Sexually Harasses Mom on Phone
A man calling from a blocked number made several unwanted sexual phone calls to a 41-year-old stay at home mom, describing graphically what he wanted to do to her in her home on SE 26th place. The distraught woman said the man told her he was an associate of her husband before the conversation took a threatening turn.

Eastlake Student Cited for Marijuana Possession
A 16-year-old Eastlake High sophomore was cited for possessing a small amount of marijuana and tobacco products in his backpack at 8:30 a.m. after his teacher noticed the substance's distinctive smells.

Nuisance Calls
A 40-year-old resident reported someone with a blocked ID repeatedly called her phone — up to 5 times a day — and hung up when she answered at her home in the 1200 block of 230 Ave. NE. She said she was forced to change her number to get the calls to stop.

May 1
Police Officer Dispatches Wounded Deer Struck by Car
A deer was struck by a vehicle near the intersection of SE Duthie Hill Rd. and Trossachs Blvd. SPD found the deer about a mile away, badly limping. State Game declined to respond to the call and authorized the patrol officer to euthanize the deer, which he did with a single shot from his glock 17 9m service pistol in the 26600 block of SE Duthie Hill Rd.

May 3
Negligent Driving
Police pulled over and arrested an 18-year-old Tahoma High School student at 2:47 p.m. in the 4000 block of 228th Ave. SE after a registration check of the white Ford Explorer showed she was driving indicated her license was suspended. She was later booked into the Issaquah Jail and her truck was towed.

Local Man Arrested for DUI
Police arrested a 22-year-old resident for DUI in the 3600 block of Issaquah Pine Lake Road SE at 2:20 a.m. after he was stopped for speeding. He failed a field sobriety test and was later tested at .135/.136 BAC.

May 4
Found Property

A patron of the Starbucks Pine Lake Village Shopping Center in the 3000 block of Issaquah Pine Lake Rd SE found a BECU debit card on the ground and turned it over to police. Police were unable to locate the owner.
