Redmond Police are looking for a male suspect they say robbed a Lovers store in the Overlake area at gunpoint this afternoon.
The man entered the store, located in the 15000 block of Northeast 24th Street at around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, went behind the counter, displayed a small handgun and demanded cash, according to police spokesman Jim Bove.
He made the employee at the counter go to the back of the store while he took cash from the register and then fled on foot in an unknown direction, Bove said. There were no injuries in the robbery.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his mid-30s with a medium build who is approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall. He was wearing a reddish-orange jacket, baseball hat, sunglasses, blue jean and gloves.
A similar robbery took place in Issaquah last week, at the Lovers store on East Lake Sammamish Parkway, but Issaquah Police said this afternoon they could not confirm whether it is the same suspect, though the suspect in the earlier robbery also was described as a Hispanic male in his mid-20s wearing a red coat.
Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
