Sammamish Police Blotter: $16,000 in Jewelry, Watches Stolen from Sammamish Home

The following reports are from Sammamish Police reports for March 5-March 16. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

March 5

Reckless Endangerment: A Sammamish woman was investigated by police after employees of the girls and boys club at a local grade school after school program reported to police that she was attempting to pick up her children from daycare but was apparently intoxicated. The children refused to get in the car with her and the children’s father was called to pick them up. Police went to the home to perform a welfare check. The officer reported that he would forward the case to Child Protective Services for investigation.

Residential Burglary: Police were dispatched to the 24000 block of 220 Pl NE, where the homeowner told police someone had entered the home through an open garage door while he was out running errands between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. He noticed the open garage on his return, but didn’t see anything out of place until his wife returned home later and found an earring on the bathroom floor. Further inspecition revealed that several pieces of jewely and several valuable watches were missing, with a total estimated value of over $16,000. Police were not able to recover any fingerprints.

Residential Burglary: A resident of the 14000 block of 236th Ave NE called 911 around 4 p.m. to report that her daughter had returned home and found the front door open and the house burglarized. The family told police they leave the front door unlocked because ethe garage door doesn’t function. The burglar stole a 25-inch flat panel sony television and an Xbox 360, and rifled through jewelry. Police lifted fingerprints from the door, but it wasn’t clear if they belonged to an unknown suspect or the victims.

Larceny: A woman called 911 to report that two white men had just stolen a package off her doorstep and fled in a green SUV. The victim, who lives on the 24000 block of 236th Ave NE, was able to give police a partial license plate number for the vehicle. She told police that one of the men had knocked on her door, and said he was looking for someone, but there is no such person at that address. After she shut the door, she lookout out the window and saw a different man grab the package, containing $60 worht of herbal sweeteners, off her doorstep and run to the vehicle.

March 10

Stolen License Plates: A woman livin g on the 4000 block of 194th Pl NE reported that her front license plate had been stolen off of her 1996 Honda Accord sometime in the last month. The rear plate ws still on the vehicle.

Residential Burglary: A family living on the 2200 block of 226th Pl NE called police to report that their home had been burglarized while they were out the previous evening. The homeowner went downstairs in the morning and discovered that a Nikon digital camera was missing, as well as a Toshiba laptop computer. He then discovered that the downstairs back door was ajar, held open with a dowel, and when he looked out the window saw that the garage door was open. A nanny, employed through on-call nanny, was there in the evening and did not see the laptop at the home. The homeowners said they had no suspicion of the nanny. Police were able to lift a fingerprint from the garage window.

March 12

Residential Burglary: A resident of the 2200 block of Sahalee Dr. NW reported that after returning forom a trip, they began to notice some jewelry missing from their home. There was no sign of forced entry, but jewelry, including a faux Rolex watch, a ring, and a diamond initial “A” charm, were missing, as well as several envelopes containing a total of over $600 that had been in a dresser. The police determined that some of the missing item descriptions match area pawn shop records. There were several people with access to the home via a garage door code, including a former housekeeper, whom the owners said was dismissed after entering the home without their permission on occasion. Police found no evidence or fingerprints at the home.

Larceny: A resident of the 21000 block of 28th SE 28th Street reported to police that sometime in the last couple of months his Coleman Mariner Canoe was stolen from the community’s beach access. The canoe is valued at about $500 and is older with a distinctive crack in the seat, and the victim later told police that he thought he saw his canoe advertised on Craigs List, and the address the seller gave him was in Everett. Police report that the victim might go look at the canoe advertised in the posting to see if it is his.

March 13

Liquor/tobacco violations: a 19-year old man living on the 100 block of 224th Ave SE was arrested for having drug paraphernalia and for hosting a large underage drinking party. The young man approached police after they were called to investigate reports of a loud party, becoming belligerent and admitting to drinking.

March 14

Suspicious person: a resident living on the 51000 block of 189th ave ne called police to report a suspicious person. She told police that she heard someone singing very loudly outside her door, a man who then began ringing her doorbell and knocking very loudly. The man, a black male in his 40s wearing a baseball hat and carrying a black backpack, eventually left when she didn’t answer the door.

Fraud: A Sammamish woman received a call from Wells Fargo’s credit fraud department to report suspicious card activity. Three transactions were made with her debit account information at Office Depot in Kent, but she still had her debit card in her possession.

March 16

Suspicious person: a woman living  on the 800 block of 211 Pl SE called police to report that a suspicious man on foot had approached her home, at first claiming to sell cleaning product, but then changing his story several times and refusing to leave.
