Sammamish Police Blotter: $3K Worth of Mysterious Calls to Honduras Made, House for Sale is Entered, 24-Pack of Beer Taken

Sunday, July 31

Burglary: A Sammamish man living on Southeast 40th Street contacted police after discovering his laptop had been stolen from his house. He had used the laptop earlier that day and suspects someone may have entered the home through a garage door he left open.

Attempted Burglary: A Sammamish man living on Southeast 15th Street contacted police after someone set off his house alarm. The man was upstairs when the alarm went off and when he want downstairs to check on things he discovered two of is three garage doors open and someone running away. A motion sensor in the garage tripped the alarm and nothing appeared to be stolen.

Monday, Aug. 1

Larceny: A Sammamish man living on Northeast Inglewood Hill Road contacted police after he discovered that tools had been stolen out of a work truck he had parked near his property. A duffle bag full of fishing gear also was stolen from the man’s boat, which was parked nearby. The suspects also attempted to steal a small trolling motor from the boat.

Burglary: A Sammamish woman living on Northeast 20th Street contacted police after discovering that her home had been entered and searched. The house is up for sale and a key box was missing from outside. Nothing appeared to be stolen from inside.

Vandalism: A Sammamish man living on 218th Avenue Northeast contacted police after discovering that someone had slashed the left front and right rear tires on his car.

Larceny: A couple living on Southeast 20th Street contacted police after their cell phone provider threatened to cancel their personal and business phones for failure to pay for $3,000 worth of calls to Honduras. The couple said that they never call Honduras and knew nothing of the charges. They soon learned that the calls were made from a rarely-used personal phone that was now missing. They suspect someone who helps their regular house cleaner may have stolen the phone.

Vehicle Prowl: A Sammamish woman living on Southeast 40th Place contacted police after discovering that someone had smashed one of her car’s windows and searched the vehicle. Nothing was missing and the only damage was to the window.

Larceny: A Sammamish woman contacted police after discovering that various prescription medications were stolen from her car while it was parked at the Safeway on 228th Avenue Northeast.

Tuesday, Aug. 2

Fraud: A Sammamish man living on 230thCourt Southeast contacted police after discovering that his credit card had been used to purchase $361.65 worth of prepaid phone cards. The man was informed of the charges by Visa. He cancelled the card.

Wednesday, Aug. 3

Larceny: An Issaquah woman contacted police after her teenage son’s longboardwas stolen while he was playing at a park with friends. The boys had left their boards in some bushes and when they came back later the boards were gone.

Thursday, Aug. 4

Suspicious Circumstances: Police were dispatched to the Knolls Apartments after three men were seen running away while carrying something. The three subjects left in a black SUV before police arrived. When the police did arrive they searched the building and found one open unit, though no sign of burglary.

Larceny: A Sammamish man living on Northeast 19th Place contacted police contacted police after he discovered that someone had stolen a wheel off of his vehicle overnight.

Larceny: A Sammamish woman living on Southeast 47th Court contacted police after she discovered that a garage door opener had been stolen from her car.

Friday, Aug. 5

Larceny: An employee at the 7-Eleven on East Lake Sammamish Parkway contacted police after a juvenile male stole a 24-pack of beer and left in a black Volkswagen Jetta.

Bicycle Found: A city public works employee found a bicycle in the bushes at and turned it over to police. The bicycle, a 15-speed Glacier Point Magma mountain bike, was placed into evidence for future donation.

Saturday, Aug. 6

Driving While License Revoked: Police arrested a 24-year-old Renton man after he was pulled over for erratic driving on East Lake Sammamish Parkway and a deputy discovered that he had a suspended license.

Suspicious Person: A Sammamish man living on 224thPlace Northeast contacted police after a strange elderly man walked up his driveway, began looking around his garage and asked if there were any garage sales going on in the area. The homeowner remembered that a neighbor had told him about a strange encounter with a similar man and asked him who he was and what he was doing there. The man didn’t answer, walked away and left in a Subaru Outback, possibly green or gold in color.
