Sammamish Police Blotter: A Woman Reportedly Pockets Nearly $80k, Crooks Make Off With $11k in Goods and DUIs

Saturday, May 21

Bombing: A Sammamish woman living on 211th Way Northeast contacted police after discovering that someone had blown up her mailbox. A neighbor reported hearing an explosion around midnight but thought that it came from a television. Police inspected the box, which was completely blown apart. They suspect a large quantity of fireworks was used.

Disturbance: Police were dispatched to after a 16-year-old student caused a disturbance at a . The boy was attempting to pick fights, pulling up tent poles and generally being aggressive to others around him. He admitted to eating a type of mushroom and was taken to .

Sunday, May 22

Larceny: A woman who had parked her SUV along East Lake Sammamish Parkway while she went for a jog contacted police after she returned from her run. She found the right front passenger window smashed and her purse stolen. Credit cards and pieces of identification were taken with the purse.

Monday, May 23

Burglary: A real estate agent contacted police after discovering that several pieces of large furniture and artwork had been stolen from two model homes on 228th Avenue Northeast.

Burglary: Police were dispatched to a home on 232nd Avenue Southeast in response to an alarm. When a King County Sheriff's deputy, who works for Sammamish police, arrived at the scene he searched the area and found an open rear door with a smashed pane of glass. The deputy called for backup and waited for other units to arrive. When backup arrived the deputies searched the home and found that it had been ransacked but did not find anyone inside. Police contacted the owner, who later provided an inventory of missing items, which included a pair of diamond earrings, a gold tennis bracelet, two laptop computers and over 50 pieces of costume jewelry. Initial value totals exceeded $11,000.

Violation of Court Order: Police arrested a 49-year-old Sammamish man for violating a court order after he attempted to gather information about his children at .

Controlled Substance: Police found a man passed out in a running vehicle parked at 240th Way Southeast. The man admitted to being on heroin and was transported to King County Jail on a warrant for Driving While License Suspended.

Tuesday, May 24

Violation of Court Orders: Sammamish police arrested a 36-year-old Bellevue man for violating a protection order after he and his wife got into a physical confrontation at her home on 244th Avenue Southeast. The man was booked into King County Jail for the no contact order violation and investigation of assault in the Fourth degree.

Larceny: A Sammamish woman living on Northeast 24th Place contacted police to report that her house key had been stolen from under the front door mat. She had left the key there for her house cleaner but had later received a call when the key could not be found. Nothing was reported as missing from the house.

DUI: Police arrested a 21-year-old Issaquah man for DUI after he was pulled over for speeding and driving erratically near Northeast Inglewood Hill Road and East Lake Sammamish Parkway. The man failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. He later provided two breath tests, blowing a .128 and .137.

Fraud: The owner of an online payroll and bookkeeping company based on 230th Court Southeast contacted Sammamish police after he discovered that his bookkeeper was overpaying herself. In 2009 the suspect had paid herself an additional $41,670.52; in 2010 an additional $18,183.06; and so far in 2011 an additional $20,036.93, for a total of $79,890.51. The owner confronted the suspect, who admitted to forging his signature on checks, and fired her. Editor's note: A Sammamish police spokeswoman said the case remains under investigation.

DUI: Sammamish police arrested a 31-year-old Issaquah man for DUI after he was pulled over for running a red light on Issaquah-Pine Lake Road. The man failed field sobriety tests and blew a .092 on the Breathalyzer.

Wednesday, May 25

Drug Overdose: Police were dispatched to a possible overdose on Southeast 24th Way. When they arrived, medics were on scene and trying to revive the man who was unconscious and not breathing. The aid crew successfully revived the man with CPR. The medics reported they had found several knives near the man, which they had moved away, an assault rifle and a box for a handgun. The man was transported to Overlake Hospital Medical Center. The man’s brother told police the firearms were his and that they had planned to go out shooting. Police recommended removing the firearms.

Thursday, May 26

Suspicious Circumstances: A Sammamish woman contacted police after a suspicious, overly friendly man contacted her two young daughters on two separate occasions outside the on 228th Avenue Southeast. The man is described as being in his 60s or 70s, tall with white hair and driving a red four-door car.

Marijuana Possession: Police encountered a pair of vehicles parked near Southeast 28 Street and East Lake Sammamish Parkway during a routine patrol and contacted the occupants. Police smelled marijuana coming from the vehicles and confiscated 10.6 grams of marijuana.

Friday, May 27

Driving While License Revoked: Police arrested a 20-year old Sammamish woman for driving with a suspended license after a routine check of her vehicle’s license plate revealed that the owner’s license was suspended. Police pulled the woman over near Northeast 14th Drive and 225th Avenue Northeast and took her into custody. She was later released at the scene and her boyfriend, who was in the car at the time, drove the pair away.

Driving While License Revoked: Police arrested a 25-year-old Sammamish man after a routine check of his vehicle’s license plate revealed that the owner’s license was suspended. Police pulled the man over near Southeast 40th Place and Issaquah-Pine Lake Road and took him into custody.
