Sammamish Police Blotter: Several Area Burglaries and DUIs

The following information was supplied by the Sammamish Police Department for Dec. 7-16. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Wednesday, Dec. 7

DUI: Police arrested a 20-year-old Redmond man for suspicion of driving under the influence of marijuana after he was pulled over for speeding (43 mph in a 35 mph zone) near Northeast Inglewood Hill Road and 226th Avenue Northeast. Police smelled a strong odor of marijuana on the man when contacted. He said he had medical authorization to smoke marijuana and provided documentation. Police believed he was impaired, though, and asked the man to take field sobriety tests. The man agreed and failed the tests. He was taken into custody, transported to Snoqualmie General Hospital for a blood draw, and later transported home.

DUI: Police arrested a 26-year-old man for suspicion of drunk driving after he was pulled over for speeding (60 mph in a 35 mph zone) near Southeast 18th Street and Trossachs Boulevard. When police contacted the man they smelled intoxicants and noticed that his eyes were bloodshot, watery and droopy. The man admitted to having one drink and volunteered for field sobriety tests. The man failed the tests, declined to take a Breathalyzer test and was taken into custody. The man later provided two breath samples of .116 and .118.

Monday, Dec. 12

Driving While License Revoked: Police arrested a 20-year-old Sammamish man for driving with a suspended license after a routine check of his vehicle’s license plate revealed that the registered owner’s license had been revoked. The man was pulled over in the 700 Block of 216th Avenue Northeast and taken into custody. His car was impounded.

Tuesday, Dec. 13

DUI: Police arrested a 24-year-old Redmond woman for suspicion of drunk driving after she was pulled over for speeding (53 mph in a 35 mph zone) near Northeast 8th Street and East Lake Sammamish Parkway. Two other passengers were in the car and they all appeared to have been drinking. The driver admitted that she had been drinking at the Seahawks game but said she drove because her friends had been drinking more. The woman’s eyes were watery and her face was flushed. She volunteered for field sobriety tests, which she failed, and blew a .099 on the Breathalyzer. The woman was taken into custody and later driving home by police.

Wednesday, Dec. 14

Driving While License Revoked: Police arrested a 49-year-old man for driving with a suspended license after he was pulled over for speeding (45 mph in a 35 mph zone) near Southeast 18th Street and Trossachs Boulevard.

Burglary: A man living on 247th Avenue Southeast contacted police after he discovered that his home had been broken into via a key that was located in a lockbox. A fire safe containing documents, various jewelry, a PC laptop, a Macbook laptop, a passport and three Social Security cards were stolen.

Thursday, Dec. 15

Burglary: A man living on East Lake Sammamish Parkway Southeast contacted police after he discovered that his home had been burglarized. The man had locked the home up when he left earlier in the day, but when he returned home he found the front door standing open. He then went inside and found that closet doors, drawers and cupboards were open and called the police. The only item of value that seemed to be taken was an Xbox 360 video game console. There were no obvious signs of forced entry.

DUI: Police arrested a 20-year-old Sammamish man for suspicion of drunk driving after he was spotted driving over the sidewalk near City Hall. The man nearly missed a bus stop sign and attempted to flee, but was soon pulled over. When police contacted the driver they noticed that his eyes were bloodshot, watery and droopy, and his breath smelled of intoxicants. The man denied drinking and declined to take field sobriety tests, but when police walked him away from his car he stumbled and. Police took him into custody and booked him into Issaquah Jail.

Theft-Other Vehicle: A woman living on Southeast 30th Street contacted police after she discovered that her cargo trailer had been stolen from outside her house. The trailer is valued at approximately $1,000.

Friday, Dec. 16

Burglary: Police were dispatched to a robbery when unknown suspects broke into an unoccupied home on East Lake Sammamish Parkway. The suspects apparently tried to break into a lock box, gave up, and then kicked the door in. The owners were in the process of moving and had most of their belongings boxed up. Nothing significant appeared to be stolen.
