Sammamish Police Blotter: Several Traffic Arrests Last Week

The following information was supplied by the Sammamish Police Department for the week of Nov. 26 - Dec. 4. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Saturday, Nov. 26

DUI: Police arrested a 26-year-old Sammamish man for suspicion of drunk driving after he was pulled over for speeding. The man had been spotted traveling at a high rate on the Issaquah-Pine Lake Road. Police followed the vehicle and paced it at 60 to 70 mph in a 40 mph zone. Police attempted to pull the vehicle over but the driver ignored the warning lights and sirens. The driver eventually pulled into an apartment complex. Police instructed the man to get out of the car, which he did, stumbling and walking erratically. Police placed the man in handcuffs and said he was under arrest for failing to stop. The man later volunteered for field sobriety tests, which he failed, and blew a .171 on the Breathalyzer. The man’s vehicle was impounded and he was transported to the Sammamish substation.

Vandalism: A woman living on 228th Avenue Southeast contacted police after she discovered that nearly all of her vehicle’s windows had been shattered, though based on the lack of glass on the ground the crime did not appear to have been committed in her driveway. The woman said that she and her boyfriend had been going through difficult times and that he had taken the vehicle earlier. He had called later and said he was bringing the truck back. When the woman saw it again the damage had been done.

Police found a large amount of broken glass at a nearby park and ride. When questioned, the boyfriend denied doing anything to the vehicle and said that the damage had occurred when he was in Seattle.
