Sammamish Police Blotter: Drug Paraphernalia Dropped Outside a Home, Items Stolen From a City Storage Building, and yet Another Burglary

The following information was supplied by the Sammamish Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Saturday, Oct. 15

Controlled Substances: While on patrol police spotted a vehicle parked suspiciously on East Main Drive and stopped to investigate. Inside they found that the male driver was wearing only shorts while his female passenger was scrambling to put her clothes on. Police could smell marijuana and asked for the drugs. Police also retrieved a pipe and pill bottle from the glove box. Police contacted the pair’s parents, who agreed to come and pick them up.

Suspicious Circumstances: A 16-year-old girl living on 204th Terrace Northeast contacted police after a suspicious mine attempted to enter her home. The girl was home alone when she first heard a dog bark. She went to the door to see what was going on and heard the handle jiggle. She then looked outside and saw a man running away. She described him as being about 25-years-old with closely cut hair, wearing a black jacket.

Identity Theft: A woman living on 220th Place Northeast contacted police after she discovered that several unauthorized transactions had been made using her debit card. $1,294.61 in charges had been made at locations in Los Angeles. The woman placed a hold on her account.

Fraud: A woman living on Northeast 21st Street contacted police after she noticed several fraudulent charges totaling approximately $400 on her account.

Vandalism: A man living on Northeast 18th Place contacted police after someone road a motorcycle through his yard and uprooted a tree. Tracks indicate that the suspect rode into the yard, looped around and headed back out, either grabbing onto or running over the tree in the process. The man said that a similar incident had occurred about a month earlier.

Tuesday, Oct. 18

Controlled Substances: A woman living on Louis Thompson Road Southeast contacted police after she found a backpack containing drug paraphernalia on her property. The woman had been in her yard playing with her daughter when she heard a car stop near her home. She looked out to the street and saw that a white car had parked across from her home. A juvenile male then exited the car, ran towards her house, dropped something and then ran back into the car, which then sped away. The woman went to look at what had been dropped and found the backpack, then called police.

When police arrived they searched the bag and found a large glass bong, a small glass bong, two knives, a lighter, miscellaneous trash and a towel. No marijuana was found in the bag.

The woman described the vehicle as a smaller white Mercedes. She believes there were three young males inside. She described the male who jumped out as being approximately 16 years old and dark skinned with black hair.

Police placed the items into evidence for disposal and told the woman to contact them if she ever saw the vehicle or the male near her home again.

Burglary: A city maintenance manager contacted police after he discovered that a city storage building had been broken into. A glass-top oven and a portable air conditioning unit had been stolen, along with aluminum sign blanks worth thousands of dollars. The door into the storage building appeared to have been pried open. Finger prints were taken at the scene.

Wednesday, Oct. 19

Fraud: A woman living on 243rd Place Southeast contacted police after she discovered that someone had opened a Paypal account in her name. The account had been opened on Aug. 18 and there was an outstanding charge of $500.

Thursday, Oct. 20

Bicycle Found: An employee of the homeowner’s association at the Crosswater Development contacted police after finding a mountain bike stashed in bushes. The bike is a Specialized brand Hardrock model, black in color. The bike was placed into evidence.
