Sammamish Police Blotter: Jewelry, U2 Tickets, Xbox and Nintendo Wii Get Stolen From House, Man Falls Asleep While Driving and Hits Tree

Larceny: A 16-year-old student contacted police after a guitar and guitar case were stolen from her unlocked vehicle while it was parked at .

Saturday, May 14

Liquor/Tobacco Violations: During a routine patrol of late at night, police discovered a Ford Focus parked toward the back of the lot in a darkened area. Police approached the vehicle and found an 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl inside. Police could smell intoxicants coming from the vehicle as well. Police asked the girl to step out of the car. They noticed that she had bloodshot, watery eyes and that she walked unbalanced. She admitted to drinking and said that she was about to drive home. The girl was not fully dressed, her denim shorts visible in the car. Police then asked the man to exit the vehicle. His eyes were also bloodshot and watery. The man admitted to drinking as well. The girl contacted her father, who came and picked her up. A friend picked the man up. Police warned them both not to drink.

Sunday, May 15

Auto Theft: A Sammamish woman contacted police after her sister took their aunt’s car without permission. The car was later returned but the woman wished to pursue charges due to her sister’s previous problems with theft and drug use.

Monday, May 16

Burglary: A Sammamish man contacted police after discovering that a mini wood lathe had been stolen from a workshop on 212th Way Southeast. Police weren’t certain of how entry to the shop was gained, but a 6-inch by 10-inch pane of glass was shattered and a side door was left open.

Criminal Warrant: Police arrested a 61-year-old man while serving a warrant at a residence on West Beaver Lake Drive Southeast. The man had tried to escape through a back door but was apprehended and taken into custody.

Tuesday, May 17

Criminal Warrant: Sammamish police arrested a 21-year-old man on a misdemeanor warrant after his vehicle was spotted parked behind the on 228th Avenue Southeast. Police arranged to meet the owner and took him into custody.

Vandalism: A Sammamish man living on Northeast 5th Place contacted police after he discovered that someone had shot out his vehicle’s front passenger window, apparently with a pellet gun.

Larceny: A couple contacted police after their vehicle was broken into while parked on Southeast 24th Street. A purse, wallet, keys, identification and cash were stolen from the vehicle.

Vandalism: A Sammamish man living on East Lake Sammamish Parkway Southeast contacted police after discovering that his vehicle’s driver’s side window had been shot out with a 1/4 inch diameter ball bearing, apparently fired from a slingshot. No items were missing from the vehicle.

Accident: Sammamish police arrested a 32-year-old man after he fell asleep at the wheel in the middle of the afternoon and ran into a tree in front of a residence on Southeast Duthie Hill Road. The driver admitted to driving with a suspended license and no insurance.

Driving While License Revoked: Police arrested a 27-year-old man after a routine check of his license plate revealed that he was driving with a suspended license. Police stopped the vehicle, arrested the driver and released him at the scene.

Wednesday, May 18

DUI: Sammamish police arrested a 19-year-old man for driving under the influence after he was spotted speeding (47 mph in a 40-mph zone) and driving erratically near Southeast 24th Street and 228th Avenue Southeast. When police contacted the driver they immediately smelled marijuana. The driver volunteered for a field sobriety test. The driver failed the test and was arrested for DUI. He was transported home and released.

DUI: Sammamish police arrested a 61-year-old woman for driving under the influence after she was pulled over for erratic driving near Southeast 28th Street and East Beaver Lake Drive Southeast. When police contacted the driver they immediately noticed her bloodshot and watery eyes. The woman said that she had had two glasses of wine earlier with some friends. She volunteered for a field sobriety test, which she failed, then blew a .092 and a .083 on the Breathalyzer. Police arrested the woman and later release her to her husband.

Thursday, May 19

Burglary: A Sammamish woman living on 204th Place Northeast contacted police after she returned home from running a short errand and discovered that several drawers and cabinets in her home had been opened and searched. When police arrived they searched the premises and found the gate leading into the backyard open and the main door leading into the garage unlocked and ajar. The door leading into the house from the garage was also unsecured, its locks apparently having been drilled out. The homeowner said that the damage to the locks was pre-existing.

A landscaper working nearby described seeing a small grey or blue vehicle drive up to the area, then saw two male juveniles get into the vehicle before the vehicle wentsouth on 204th Place Northeast. The landscaper described one of the males as having longer shoulder length hair.

Various pieces of jewelry, U2 concert tickets, a Nintendo DS handheld video game system, an Xbox 360 video game system, a Nintendo Wii video game system and a laptop computer were all stolen. Losses are estimated at $3,850.

Violation of Court Orders: Sammamish police arrested a 52-year-old Issaquah man for violating a court order after he contacted his child’s school by email, with was in violation of a court order taken out by his estranged wife.

Friday, May 20

Driving While License Revoked: Sammamish police arrested a 37-year-old Kirkland man for driving with a suspended license after he was pulled over near Southeast 32nd Street and 238th Avenue Southeast for driving suspiciously, failing to transfer his vehicle’s title and having expired tabs. When pulled over, the man admitted to having a suspended license. The man was arrested and transported home.
