Sammamish Police Blotter: Man Arrested After Assaulting Daughter with Gun

The following information is from Sammamish Police Department reports for April 29-May 12. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Sunday, April 29

Assault with a handgun: A 46-year old Sammamish man was booked after threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend and pointing a handgun at his 8-year-old daughter. When deputies responded to a domestic violence call by the former girlfriend, who lives with the man at the home on the 1100 block of 231st Place NE, a deputy could hear the racking sound of a gun upstairs and a girl saying “daddy.” The man apparently had been drinking for some time, and during the course of an argument had damaged the home and threatened both the woman and the child. He was arrested for investigation of domestic violence and first degree assault and booked into King County Jail.

Reckless driving: An 18 year old Sammamish woman was arrested near the 1200 block of 212th Ave SE around 8 p.m., after police saw her driving a blue Volvo well over the posted speed limit in a residential neighborhood in heavy rain. The young woman was cited and released at the scene, since she had arrived at her destination and parked when the officer stopped her.

Auto theft: A Sammamish man called to report that his white 1985 Toyota pickup had been stolen from a property he was moving belonging from on the 2000 block of Ea Lake Sammamish Parkway. The vehicle starts without a key.

Thursday, May 10

Suspicious circumstances: A Sammamish man reported that his children and some friends were playing at Blackwell Elementary around 5 p.m. when they were approached by a black man in a blue van who asked them if they wanted ice cream. The children told him they didn’t have any money; then the man started asking them where they lived. The children became suspicious and went over to some adults. When one of the adults began to approach the van, it drove off.

Business License Violation: A man was arrested for soliciting without a license, after a homeowner on the 1500 block of 229th Ave NE called police when the man couldn’t produce a solicitors license. The solicitor told police he did not know it was illegal to solicit without a license in Sammamish, and he was matched to an National Crime Information Check case out of Ohio, then booked into Issaquah Jail.

Friday, May 11

Domestic Violence: A 39 year old Sammamish man was arrested for fourth degree assault after slapping his wife at their home, near the 3800 block of 206th Place NE. The woman attempted to recant after her husband was arrested and refused to give a statement, but since she had reported that he hit her and it hurt, police had arrested the man and gave her information about how she could seek to have the charges dropped.

Fraud: a 72-year-old Sammamish man reported to police that he had received a letter saying he had won third place in the Publisher’s clearing house, along with a check for $2,750, with instructions to deposit the check and use it to pay for delivery, and wire the remainder to an address in New Jersey. The man deposited the check at Wells Fargo’s ATM in Sammamish, then called the next day to see if it had cleared. It had cleared, so the man wired $2,450. Afterward, he received a call with a Quebec label on the caller id telling him that he needed to send another 1800 for a luxury tax. Becoming suspicious, he refused, then tried to call a complaint line to get a refund, but was refused. He then learned that the original check had bounced, causing him to lose $2,450.

Gas stolen: A Sammamish man reported to police that someone had siphoned the gas from a 2002 Chevy S10 pickup overnight while it was parked at Plateau motors. He added that this has happened a few other times to different vehicles that have been parked at the shop. The vehicles, with the exception of one, did not have locking gas caps.

Saturday, May 12

Aggravated assault: An 18-year old Skyline senior is being investigated for felony assault after he allegedly cornered his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend in the public bathroom at Pine Lake Park and assaulted him, causing him to hit his head against a shower head. The new boyfriend claimed the other boy started the fight, and that he had intended to confront the boy about his girlfriends claims of previous abusive behavior by the ex-boyfriend.
