Sammamish Police Blotter: Motorist Rolls Car Onto its Roof, Woman who Fits Description of Person of Interest in Home Burglaries is Questioned

Saturday, July 9

Bombing: A woman living on 203rd Avenue Northeast contacted police after she discovered that her garbage can had been destroyed by an explosive device. The can’s sides were blown out and its lid was ripped off by the blast.

Sunday, July 10

Burglary: A man living on 255th Avenue Southeast contacted police after he returned home from a trip and found that a mountain bike had been stolen from his garage. The man had a friend housesitting for him and the friend said that on a few occasions he had left the garage door open while walking the man’s dog.

Assault: Police arrested a 20-year-old man after he assaulted a former employee of his mother over a dispute over a damaged car.

Bombing: A man living on 236th Avenue Northeast contacted police after he heard a loud explosion in the middle of the night and found that someone had blown up his yard waste bin. The bin had been moved from in front of his garage to the sidewalk in front of the house before being destroyed.

Property Found: Police found a man’s wallet containing $1,057 in cash on 228th Avenue Northeast during patrol and attempted to contact the owner. Unable to immediately reach the owner, police put the wallet into evidence and are waiting to hear from the owner.

Liquor/Tobacco Violations: Police arrested an 18-year-old Sammamish woman for intoxication after they found her drinking at a party on 246th Way Southeast. Police had been investigating the destruction of a garbage can nearby when they heard the loud party. During a check of the license plates of vehicle parked outside the house, police discovered that a woman they had arrested for DUI on June 28 was at the party. After speaking with another woman at the party, they located the 18-year-old and spoke to her. They found that she smelled of intoxicants and had watery, bloodshot eyes. She volunteered for a Breathalyzer test, blowing a .100. Police took the woman into custody and transported her to Issaquah Jail.

Criminal Warrant: Police arrested a woman on a warrant out of Bellevue for Driving While License Suspended. The woman was transported to Issaquah Jail.

Disorderly Conduct: Police arrested a 26-year-old Sammamish man living at the Saxony Apartments on 225th Lane Northeast after numerous complaints from neighbors about his loud and argumentative outbursts.

Monday, July 11

Violation of Court Orders: Police arrested a 42-year-old Issaquah man for violating a protection order after he cyber-bullied his ex-wife.

Vandalism: A woman living on East Lake Sammamish Parkway reported through a friend that someone had been cutting down small trees in her backyard, which connects to a walking trail. The woman reported hearing suspicious cutting noises late at night but during a subsequent patrol police failed to witness any cutting. 

Tuesday, July 12

Burglary: A man living on 272nd Way Southeast contacted police after he and his family returned home from a trip and found their front door ajar and their house burglarized. A camera, camcorder, two laptop computers, a flat screen television, suitcases and baseball cards were among the stolen items. A second TV was found sitting just inside the front door. Police recovered fingerprints from the second TV.

Vehicle License Violations: Police arrested an 18-year-old man after a routine check revealed that the vehicle he was driving had been listed as sold on April 30 and that the transfer of the title had not been completed within 45 days. The man was later released at the scene.

Wednesday, July 13

Driving While License Revoked: While on routine patrol police observed a young woman reach out of the passenger side window of a dark grey or green minivan and pick up a brochure. Both the woman and the minivan matched the descriptions of a vehicle and person of interest in nearby residential burglaries. Police ran the minivan’s plate and discovered that the registered owner had a suspended license. Police then pulled the vehicle over, matched the description of the driver to the registered owner and arrested the 50-year-old male driver for driving with a suspended license. The man was later released at the scene.

Thursday, July 14

Accident DUI: Police arrested a 22-year-old Sammamish man for driving under the influence after he crashed into a parked car and rolled his car onto its roof, trapping him inside. When aid crews were attempting to remove the man from his car it became apparent that he was intoxicated. After being rescued from the vehicle the man was transported to Overlake Hospital Medical Center, where he declined to answer questions from the DUI packet and refused a blood draw.
