Suspicious Circumstances: A Sammamish man contacted police after his 12-year-old daughter told him that a man had said inappropriate things to her over the course of several months. The girl said that there was a man who worked at the QFC who she had gotten to be friendly with, even adding him as a friend on Facebook. They would talk on a regular basis whenever she was in the store.

Eventually, he began to hug her each time he saw her, and once talked about explicit sexual matters, which made her uncomfortable. On another occasion the man came to the building where she lived and watched her and a group of friends as they bathed in a hot tub. He even told her that she looked pretty in her bathing suit. The girl described the subject as a man in his late-40s or older, with dark blonde hair, approximately 6 feet tall with a medium build. She also showed police a picture of the man from Facebook.

Burglary Attempt: A Sammamish woman living on 209th Avenue Northeast contacted police after she saw a strange man run away from her house as she returned home. The man had been standing near her front door, then ran through her property and her neighbor’s property as he left. Police requested a K-9 unit to search for the suspect but were unable to follow his trail. Police also searched the house and found that a window screen had been removed from the side of the house and a window smashed. There was no evidence that the man had actually entered the house, though, and nothing was found to be missing from inside. Police did recover fingerprints from inside.

Larceny: A 20-year-old Sammamish man was arrested after stealing several items from his father. The man had been living with his father on 232nd Place Northeast while undergoing Methadone treatment, but had been asked to leave after getting into a physical altercation with his father. Fourth Degree Assault: A man brought his son to the Sammamish Police station to report that his son had been assaulted by another boy while on the school bus. Police photographed a deep red/purple bruise and scrape just below his right eye.

Larceny: A couple living on Southeast 5th Place contacted police to report the theft of items they had believed they were donating to a non-profit organization. The couple had contracted with Western Van and Storage Company to move their belongings to Seaside, Ore. last June. They had specifically set aside some items for donation. A man working for the company asked if he could take the items for a shelter for battered women run by his mother. The couple agreed and asked for a receipt. When the receipt never materialized, the couple began to suspect that the man had taken the items himself. Among the items were a BBQ, beds, a coffee table, dining chairs and table, an end table, an entertainment center, a filing cabinet, chairs and a plant.

Stolen property recovered: A woman contacted police and informed them that she had found several credit cards and an identification card while walking near Beaver Lake Middle School. The woman put the cards in an envelope and delivered them to City Hall. Police checked the cards and confirmed that they had been taken from a vehicle in Snoqualmie.

DUI: Police arrested a 19-year-old woman for driving under the influence after she was stopped for speeding on the Issaquah-Pine Lake Road. Police first observed her vehicle traveling well over the limit (55 mph in a 35 zone), then pursued her for nearly half a mile. Police eventually stopped the woman at the entrance to the Madison Apartments. When police approached the vehicle, the driver apologized for speeding, then produced her driver’s license, registration, and proof of insurance.

Police immediately smelled intoxicants coming from her car and asked if she had been drinking. The woman hesitated before answering, then admitted to drinking one beer. Police asked the woman to take the filed sobriety test to which she agreed. The woman passed all three tests, leading officers to believe she was not above the limit. However, police were still concerned by her blood-shot eyes and the odor of alcohol and asked if she’d consent to a breath test. The woman agreed and blew a 0.052. Police then arrested the woman for being over the limit for minors (0.02). She was eventually released to her boyfriend and the case has been forwarded for trial.
