Sammamish Police Blotter: Police Responded to a Variety of Thefts and Fraud Cases Last Week

The following information was supplied by the Sammamish Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Tuesday, June 21

Stolen License Plate: A Redmond man contacted police after he discovered the theft of his vehicle’s rear license plate.

Larceny: A man living at the contacted police after discovering that the rear wheels/tires had been stolen from his vehicle.

Identity Theft: A Sammamish woman living on 192nd Avenue Southeast contacted police after discovering that someone was using her deceased husband’s identity. The woman had been receiving calls for several weeks from a collections agency in regards to overdue payments on a GMC vehicle. The woman said that she didn’t own a GMC vehicle. A background check revealed that no GMC vehicle was registered to the woman or her deceased husband. Police advised her to contact other credit reporting agencies and inform them of her husband’s death.

Fraud: A Sammamish man living on 263rd Lane Southeast contacted police after he checked his credit report and discovered that his Social Security number was being used fraudulently. The man discovered 17 different fraudulent activities. The credit reporting agency was able to provide him with information on a person in Arizona. 

Wednesday, June 22

Vandalism: A Redmond man contacted police after discovering that someone had smashed the rear window of his vehicle while it was parked overnight on 233rd Place Northeast. Nothing was missing in the vehicle.

Thursday, June 23

Fraud: A woman living on 224th Place Northeast contacted police after her bank notified her of several unusual charges on her account. The charges included an approximately $400 charge to Helzburg Diamonds, an approximately $300 charge to Walmart.com, and a charge to Apple.com of an unknown amount.

Larceny: A woman living on 213th Place Northeast contacted police after discovering that a postal package and portable generator had been stolen from her home. The woman had been expecting the delivery of a DVD player and when the package wasn’t at her front door she walked around to her back porch to see if it had been left there. While walking around her home she noticed the missing generator. The woman confirmed that the package had been delivered earlier that day and suspects that it had been stolen along with the generator.

Friday, June 24

Mail Theft: A Sammamish woman living on Southeast 10th Court contacted police after a check she had left in her mailbox to be mailed disappeared before being picked up.
