Sammamish Police Blotter: Residents Report Fireworks-related Damage

Sunday, July 3
Bombing: A man living on 235th Avenue Southeast contacted police after discovering that a light fixture in his front lawn had been damaged by some sort of explosive, possibly fireworks. A neighbor had heard an explosion during the night and gone out to investigate but found nothing.
Vandalism: A man living on Southeast 31st Place contacted police to report that two teenage males in a silver Dodge pickup truck had driven by his car, which was parked outside his home, and thrown fireworks through the open passenger window, damaging the front seat.

Tuesday, July 5
Bombing: A woman living on 203rd Avenue Southeast contacted police to report that her mailbox had been vandalized overnight. Her father had heard an explosion at about 3 a.m. and had gone outside to investigate but found nothing. The next morning the woman found her mailbox blown apart. Police found a spent sparkler bomb among the debris and were able to recover prints from the remains of the mailbox.

Bombing: A custodian at contacted police after discovering that someone had damaged a door handle on a portable classroom with fireworks. Police found remnants of sparklers and electrical tape on the classroom’s steps.
