Sammamish Police Blotter: Shotgun, Rifle, Vicodin, Oxycodone Swiped - and $21K in Deposits Appear

The following information was supplied by the Sammamish Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Aug. 15

Burglary: A Sammamish man living on 244th Avenue Northeast contacted police after a motorcycle and a pickup truck exited his driveway as he was returning home. The man noticed a lawnmower in the back of the truck and pursued the vehicles. He eventually lost them and then called 911. The house had recently been put up for sale and someone had tampered with the lock box. When police arrived, they found that the house had been ransacked. Two flatware sets, a jewelry box containing a pair of gold cufflinks valued at $2,000, a pair of binoculars, a shotgun and a .22-caliber rifle were stolen.

Burglary: A man living on Southeast 16th Place contacted police after someone attempted to enter his home while he was watching television. He first noticed motion lights come on near the driveway and then heard the garage door open. The man’s parents were at a party and he wasn’t expecting them until later so he was immediately suspicious. He then looked out a window and saw someone run out of the garage and up the driveway. The man ran after the subject but lost him.

Hit and Run: A Covington man contacted police after his vehicle was reportedly hit by an Allied Waste garbage truck when it made a left turn. The garbage truck did not immediately stop and the man pursued it a short distance and confronted the driver. Police noticed rubber scuff marks on the victim’s vehicle that were consistent with being hit by a large tire. The driver of the garbage truck denied hitting the car.

Burglary: A Sammamish man living on Northeast 24th Street contacted police after he and his wife returned home from vacation and discovered that their home had been burglarized. As there were no signs of forced entry, the man believes that he may have left the rear-facing garage door open while they were away. Costume jewelry, a gold necklace, an opal ring and two pearl necklaces valued at $1,700 were stolen. Fingerprints were taken at the scene.

Credit Card Forgery: A Sammamish man living on 217th Place Northeast contacted police after he noticed several fraudulent charges on his credit card. The charges had been made at several retail outlets and totaled $850.50. The account has since been closed.

DUI: Police arrested a 30-year-old Redmond man for Driving Under the Influence after he was pulled over for speeding near Southeast 36th Lane and Issaquah-Pine Lake Road Southeast. When police contacted the driver they immediately smelled intoxicants. The man admitted that he had been drinking at a bar in Issaquah and consented to a Breathalyzer test. The man blew a .140 and was placed under arrest. He was transported to the Sammamish sub-station and later released.

Larceny: A Sammamish woman living on 257th Place Southeast contacted police after she discovered the theft of several pills from her residence. She reported that 20 Vicodin and 52 Oxycodone pills were taken, though the pill bottles were left behind. The woman believes the pills may have been taken during a recent open house.

Driving While License Revoked: Police arrested a 42-year-old Sammamish man after a routine check of his vehicle’s license plate revealed that the registered owner’s license was suspended. Police pulled the vehicle over on Southeast 24 Street and arrested the driver.

Burglary: Police were dispatched to a burglary on 229th Avenue Southeast after the female resident returned home and noticed two suspicious young men crouching in a nearby ditch as though they were trying to remain undetected. A newer foreign-model car then pulled up and the two youths jumped in. The car then sped off. When the woman entered her home she discovered that someone had broken a small bathroom window and entered the house, then fled via a sliding glass door. A cell phone was the only item missing.
