Sammamish Police Blotter: Stolen Beer, Stolen Laptops and a Stolen Phone

Two men orchestrate a theft from Radio Shack, a woman may have tried to commit suicide, and a girl's cell phone was stolen from her classroom.

Wednesday, Jan. 5

Shoplifting: An employee at the Radio Shack on 228th Avenue reported that two men had made off with a laptop computer, a hard drive and a webcam after an apparently orchestrated shoplifting attempt. The employee reported that a man, believed to be in his mid 40s, had entered the store first and immediately walked to a television in the corner. Shortly thereafter, a second man, in his late-teens to early 20s, entered the store and asked about connections for his iPod. The employee directed the second man to the corner where the first man was watching the television. A few minutes later, the second man approached the register and purchased a FM transmitter.

The employee suspects that this is when the first man used a pair of bolt cutters to steal the secured laptop. The second man made his purchase, then left the store. Soon after, the first man left the store as well. The employee noticed that he was walking strangely as he left. The employee then noticed the missing laptop. After checking the rest of the store, she discovered the missing hard drive and webcam.

Suspecting a break-in, the woman entered the home but heard no commotion and found nothing missing. When police investigated, they found no evidence that someone had tried to enter the home. Instead, a block of wood taken from the side of the house was found on the floor of the bedroom, presumably after having been thrown through the window.
