Sammamish Police Blotter: Teens Arrested for DUI, Including one who had Three Passengers, and Youths Caught Placing Toilet Paper on School

There was one case in which a 13-year-old admitted to police that he stole "Sparks" alcoholic drinks from a store.

Thursday, June 9

Trespass: While patrolling the , Sammamish police noticed a group of youths acting suspiciously. Police recognized one of the youths from an earlier trespassing case. Police pursued the youths, catching one. Two cans of “Sparks” (a drink that contains alcohol) and razor blades were found in his possession. The 13-year-old admitted to stealing the “Sparks” from Rite Aid. He was arrested and later released to his father.

Saturday, June 11

Trespass: Police apprehended three teenagers after they set off an alarm at while toilet papering the school. The three suspects tried to evade police when they first arrived but were later caught attempting to exit a wooded area near the school. The three boys, all students, were dressed in black and carrying backpacks with rolls of toilet paper and paper towels. Police also found a butterfly knife on one of the boys and confiscated it. The three were issued trespass warnings and released to their parents.

Wednesday, June 15

DUI: Sammamish police arrested an 18-year-old Issaquah man for driving under the influence. He was pulled over for driving suspiciously near Southeast 29th Street and 228th Avenue Southeast. When police contacted the driver they smelled intoxicants and found three other teens in the car. The driver said that he was driving them home because they had been drinking. He denied having been drinking himself and volunteered to take a Breathalyzer test. He blew a .038 and then admitted that he had been drinking. The driver was then Minor.

Thursday, June 16

DUI: Sammamish police arrested a 17-year-old Sammamish boy for driving under the influence after he was pulled over near Northeast 8th Street. When police contacted the driver they smelled intoxicants and asked if he’d volunteer for field sobriety tests. The teen agreed and failed the field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. He was later released to his parents at Issaquah Jail.

Liquor/Tobacco Violations: While on their way to investigate a loud party, police discovered a group of three juvenile-looking males sitting in a parked car near Northwest 25th Way and 227th Place Northeast. Police contacted the youths and immediately smelled intoxicants. The youths were evasive when questioned about drinking. Police found a flask on one of the occupants and a jug of alcohol on the floor of the car. The 19-year-old driver, who declined to take a Breathalyzer test, was arrested. Police dumped out the liquor and released all three males at the scene. They were advised to walk home.
