Sammamish Police Blotter: Thousands in Jewelry Stolen in Multiple Burglaries

The following information is from Sammamish Police Department reports for June 5 to June 16. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Tuesday, June 5

Burglary: A man living on 189th Avenue Northeast contacted police after he discovered that his home had been burglarized. Over $19,000 in jewelry were taken from the home. Police believe the suspect gained entry by forcing open the rear kitchen door. There had been two other forced entry burglaries in the area and a suspect was later arrested.

Burglary: A man living on Northeast 17th Street contacted police after a vacant home he has up for sale was burglarized. Various electronics items worth approximately $1,600 were taken. There were no signs of forced entry.

Larceny: A couple living on 211th Place Northeast contacted police after they discovered that a collectible 1934 $10 U.S. gold coin and two jars of coins were missing from their home. The couple suspects the coins were taken by their unemployeed daughter.

Sunday, June 10

Burglary: A woman living on Southeast Windsor Drive contacted police after a portable generator was stolen from her property. The woman later found a strikingly similar generator listed for sale on craigslist.

DUI: Police arrested a 19-year-old Sammamish man for driving under the influence after he was pulled over for speeding near Northeast Inglewood Hill Road and 238th Avenue Northeast. When police contacted the man they smelled burned cannabis. The man volunteered for field sobriety tests, failed, and was taken into custody. His vehicle was impounded and he was later released to his father.

Monday, June 11

Larceny: A woman living on Northeast 6th Court to report the theft of spproximately $22,500 in jewlry from her home. The woman suspects her maid.

Tuesday, June 12

Driving While License Revoked: Police arrested a man for driving with a suspended license after he was pulled over for driving with a cracked windshield and an obscured rear license plate.

Wednesday, June 13

Threats: Police arrested a 50-year-old Sammamish man for felony harrasment after he made violent threats against his ex-wife and smashed up several items in their home with a baseball bat. He was booked into King County Jail.

Friday, June 15

Bombing: Police were dispatched to 234th Avenue Southeast after someone reported hearing an explosion. When police arrived they found that a bank of mailboxes had been damaged by an explosive device, possible a large firework.

Larceny: A man living on Northeast 6th Court contacted police after he discovered that a $1,500 necklace was missing from his home. The Man suspects an employee from his cleaining service. A neighbor also reported suspecting the same service of stealing items from their home.

Saturday, June 16

DUI: Police arrested a 31-year-old Bothell man for suspicion of drunk driving after he was pulled over for driving eratically near Northeast 42nd Street and 208th Avenue Northeast. The man failes field sobriety tests, and provided Breathalyzer samples of. 200 and .208. He was arrested and later released at a friend's house.
