Attempted burglary: A Sammamish man living on Southeast 38th Place contacted police after his son informed him of an attempted burglary that had taken place while he was out of town. The son had come home on April 1 and had immediately thought something was wrong when the family dog did not greet him at the door or bark upon his arrival. The son then went into the kitchen and spotted someone running across the back deck of the house. He then heard what sounded like someone crashing through the wooded area behind the house. The son inspected the house and found no open doors or missing items. The dog was found hiding under the kitchen table. The son described the person he saw as small or short.

The father suspects that a man he had contacted about doing some house repairs may have been involved because he knew the homeowner would be out of town, though that man did not fit the description of whoever the son saw.

Marijuana possession: A Sammamish woman living on 222nd place Southeast contacted police after she found drugs and drug paraphernalia in her son’s bedroom. When police arrived, she showed them a small Pyrex container with a blue lid. The container smelled of marijuana. Inside were two homemade pipes and small plastic bag. When confronted by police, the son claimed that he was only holding the items for a friend who had been caught smoking marijuana by his parents. The boy took responsibility for having the items in his room and did not reveal the identity of his friend. Police told the boy that they would hold the items for one year and if he stayed out of trouble during that time no charges would be brought.

It read “I hope you die in a day just like these fish.” The note was written in black ink, possibly with a Sharpie pen, and the handwriting appeared to be that of a female.
