Sammamish Police Blotter: Woman Cited for DUI but Questions Deputy About Catching Actual Bad Guys

The following information was supplied by the Sammamish Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Saturday, Aug, 6

DUI: Police arrested a 52-year-old Sammamish woman for driving under the influence after she was pulled over for failing to stop at a stop sign. Police reported that she also was speeding on 211th Place Southeast. A King County Sheriff deputy assigned to the Sammamish Police Department spotted her while on patrol and witnessed her roll through a stop sign and travel at 45 mph in a 30-mph zone. The deputy began to pursue her car but the woman did not immediately pull over.

Eventually the woman pulled into a driveway and began to exit her car. The deputy told her to stop and the woman said that it was her driveway and she just wanted to go home. The deputy began to speak with her and immediately smelled intoxicants and asked the woman if she had been drinking. She admitted to having wine at a party. The woman slurred her speech when answering and became very agitated and asked the officer where the police were when people were driving 90 mph up and down her street and that they should catch actual bad guys.

The woman continued to try and go into her home, saying that she wanted to speak to her husband, who was also her lawyer. The deputy said that she could not go in at this time. The woman seemed confused and unable to understand what was going on, leading the deputy to hand cuff her. She eventually consented to field sobriety tests and failed. She also blew a .128 on the Breathalyzer. She was placed under arrest and transferred to the Sammamish sub station for a blood draw.
