Sammamish Police Blotter: Woman Hears Thief Inside Home, Husband Arrested for Hitting Wife and $900 Wedding Ring and Toyota 4-Runner SUV are Stolen

The following information was supplied by the Sammamish Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Thursday, June 9

Burglary: A Sammamish woman living on 264th Place Northeast contacted police after she scared off a suspected thief. The woman had been upstairs when she heard a crash and thud come from downstairs. When she went to investigate, she found that a man had broken in through a kitchen window and then fled through her backyard. She described him as having a buzz cut and in his late teens to mid 20s. He is about 5 feet 10 inches and 180 pounds. He was wearing a yellow or gold sweatshirt and white basketball shorts. Police attempted to track the suspect with a K-9 unit but found nothing. Finger prints were taken at the scene.

Saturday, June 11

Bombing: Police were dispatched to a bank of mailboxes near Southeast 37th Street and 234th Avenue Southeast after one of them was destroyed by an explosive device. Once on the scene, a man told police that his son had seen a green Toyota pickup truck near the boxes before the explosion. A male, possibly in his teens, with brown hair and a blue jacket, got into the truck and sped away.

Burglary: A Sammamish man living on 244th Avenue Southeast contacted police after discovering that a portable generator and a gasoline can were stolen from a shed outside his house. The man had been in the shed earlier in the day and had left it unsecured when he went to run a few errands. When he returned he found the shed door open and the items missing. A neighbor reported seeing a late 1990s or early 2000s black Dodge Ram pickup truck by the shed. He also said that he saw a male in his late 20s to early 30s exit the truck and move a railroad tie out of the way. Fresh skid marks were also found in the gravel driveway.

Auto Theft: A man living in the Boulder Creek Apartments contacted police to report the overnight theft of his 2003 Toyota 4-Runner SUV from the parking lot.

Sunday, June 12

Driving While License Revoked: Sammamish police arrested a 22-year-old man for driving with a suspended license after he was pulled over near Southeast 52nd Street and the Issaquah-Pine Lake Road for having expired tabs. The man was released at the scene and his roommate drove the vehicle home.

Monday, June 13

Reckless Driving: Police arrested a 20-year-old man for reckless driving after a witness reported that he passed him in a no-passing zone, drove on the shoulder and sped along Northeast Inglewood Hill Road and East Lake Sammamish Parkway. The witness provided police with a description of the car, a red Subaru Impreza, and the vehicle’s license plate number.

Police were able to track the Subaru driver’s residence down by his plate number. When police arrived at the residence, they found the car and asked to see the driver. They were told that he was not home and left a card for him and asked that he contact police. The man contacted police five minutes later. When police asked him about speeding and passing in a no-passing zone he gave vague responses and denied having passed anyone in a no-passing zone.

Police contacted the witness a second time and reconfirmed his version of events. Satisfied that the witness was reliable, police contacted the Subaru driver and asked that he meet them at the police station. The man became agitated and asked if he was being charged with a crime. When police said that yes, he was, the man told them to get a warrant and hung up on them. Charge recommendations were forwarded to the city prosecutor.

Driving While License Revoked: Police arrested a 48-year-old woman for driving with a suspended license after she was pulled over near Southeast 52nd Street and the Issaquah-Pine Lake Road. She was later released at the scene.

Assault: Sammamish police arrested a 52-year-old husband for assault after his wife contacted police and said that he hit her in her right arm during an argument.

Thursday, June 16

Driving While License Revoked: Sammamish police arrested a 43-year-old Seattle man for driving with a suspended license after he was pulled over in the 2900 Block of 228th Avenue Southeast.

Larceny: A juvenile boy contacted police to report that his wallet had been stolen from his backpack while he was at the skatepark near on June 13. At the time, $42 in cash was in the wallet.

Friday, June 17

Larceny: A Sammamish man contacted police after he discovered that his wedding ring was missing from a backpack he had placed it in while playing baseball at a field on 228th Avenue Northeast. The ring was valued at approximately $900.
