Sammamish Police Blotter: Young men Hang out in Vacant House for Sale, Teen Girl Reports Strange men at Park

The following information was supplied by the Sammamish Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Saturday, July 23

Burglary: A homeowner contacted police after a neighbor notified him that unknown people were inside the vacant house he had for sale on 239th Place Northeast. The neighbor said that a group of neighbors went into the house and found about eight young men hanging out. The neighbors kicked them out and secured the house. The neighbors also noted the license plate number of a strange car parked nearby.

When the owner returned home from out of town, he searched the house. There were no signs of forced entry and the lock box hadn’t been tampered with. Nothing was damaged or missing in the house, though the garage had been searched through. Despite several valuable items being in the garage, only a weight bar of approximately $100 in value was missing.

Liquor/Tobacco Violations: A 20-year-old Sammamish man and a 20-year-old Issaquah man were arrested after police pulled over the vehicle they were riding in for speeding. When police approached the vehicle they immediately smelled intoxicants. The driver appeared sober but the three passengers appeared to have been drinking. Following a Breathalyzer test, two of the underage passengers were arrested for intoxication, while the third was issued a warning.

Burglary: Police were dispatched to a residence on Southeast 27th Way where a group of male and female teens had been spotted hanging out. When police arrived, they caught the teens attempting to hide and conceal evidence of their drinking. Police later learned that one of the 11 teens knew how to access the house through the garage via a code. Police contacted parents and released the teens.

Suspicious Circumstances: A 15-year-old girl contacted police to report that a group of strange men had been watching her while she was at a park near Southeast 11th Street with three boys she was babysitting. The girl reported that three men in a white maintenance-style truck watched her as she entered the park. One of them began to follow her and then sat down next to her on a park bench and talked on his cell phone. The girl then left the park with the boys and called 911. Police later found the truck and contacted the company it belonged to and related the incident to ownership.
