Sammamish Police: No Suspects Identified in Skyline Threat

So far, numerous tips to the police department have not resulted in a suspect being named. Meanwhile, the school was open today, but only about 56 percent of students attended, the Issaquah School District says.

After wading through over 100 tips in the Skyline High School Internet threat, by late Friday morning, Sept. 21, the Sammamish Police Department and King County Sheriff's Office had not identified the source of the threat, Sammamish Police Sergeant Jessica Sullivan said.

The threat, made Wednesday night anonymously on an open web forum called 4chan, was nearly identical to another threat made against Meadowdale High School in Lynnwood, Sullivan said, so verifying its credibility has proven difficult.

"It could have been here, it could be in Finland," she said, referring to potential global access to the overseas IP address uncovered by investigators.

Though Skyline was open for classes today, and all teachers who were schedule to be on site today attended, only about 56 percent of the students came to school, the Issaquah School District said.

Despite the light attendance, staff and students were excited to be there, according to Ron Thiele, the district's Associate Superintendent. Thiele stayed on campus through lunch Friday.

We just got a note in from Sergeant Jessica Sullivan: "There have been no additional threats to Skyline, nor any other school in the area. "We cannot verify that the threat came from a student nor anyone in this area. However if anyone believes they have information that may lead us to the person or people responsible, they are asked to call the King County Sheriff’s Office call center at 206-296-3311."
