Seattle Times Solicitors Confronted by Angry Residents — Sammamish Police Blotter

The following information from June 27 - July 1 was supplied by the Sammamish Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Sammamish Police reported two Seattle Times door-to-door salesman were warned for not obtaining city permits for solicitations on June 28 after neighbors complained. At 7:55 p.m. 55-year-old resident of a home on the 26500 block of SE 19th Court walked down the street to demand their ID, and then refused to return it until police arrived, then called 911.

Burglary: Unknown suspects burglarized a shed, a swimming pool pump room and prowled a car parked at a secluded 6-acre estate overnight on the 4300 block of Issaquah Pine Lake Road SE. A variety of tools, security gate remotes and the car keys to an Audi Q5 were stolen from the property.

Car Prowl: Two unlocked vehicles parked on the same block were prowled overnight parked at a home on the 23300 block of SE 26th Place. A pair of credit cards and a drivers license were missing from a silver Volvo XC90 and three pairs of sunglasses were missing from a blue Chevrolet Tahoe. Total losses were estimated at $800.

Fraud: A 71-year-old resident of a home on the 3800 block of 203rd Ave. NE was the victim of a check-fraud scam, receiving fraudulent checks for deposit into his account in return for debit cards funded with smaller amounts.  The victim reported $4,288 in losses.

Theft: Unknown car prowlers broke into a locked Honda Civic overnight (between 2:30-10:30 a.m.), parked on the 2600 block of 230th Ave. SE, and took a cosmetics bag from inside with an estimated value of $200. The vehicle prowl may be related to an earlier prowl and a home burglary earlier this year in the same block.

Fraud: A 59-year-old resident of a home on the 27800 block of SE 26th Way reported she was the victim of ID fraud after an unknown suspect used her American Express account to purchase $142 of clothing online from American Eagle.

Driving on Revoked License: Police stopped a 27-year-old woman driving a silver Audi A6 driving through the parking lot of the QFC on the 3000 block of 230th Lane SE at 11:40 p.m. She told officers she had paid the fines to have her license re-instated.

Hit-and-Run: The owner of a silver BMW Z4 reported his convertible had been side-swiped sometime between 5-6 p.m. while it was parked on the side of the road, unoccupied, on the 4200 block of Lake Sammamish Parkway SE. The owner suspected construction workers busy at a residence north of his home might have been responsible fort the damage and a white paint transfer was found on the vehicle.
