Sentenced: Husband and Wife Theft Team Were Linked to Crimes in Issaquah

The couple from the Bothell/Kirkland area were linked to at least 23 crimes in nine local cities, including mail theft, ID theft, car prowling and burglary.

A husband and wife from the Bothell/Kirkland area who pleaded guilty to several counts of identity theft and mail theft—and police say were responsible for at least 23 crimes in nine cities—have been sentenced to prison terms.

Arne and Crystal Rosander, who were living in Bothell at the time of their arrest but listed a Kirkland residence in sentencing reports on March 29, were sentenced to 17 and eight months respectively.

The Redmond Police Department was the lead agency in investigating the case, and spokesman Jim Bove said the couple was linked to crimes in Redmond (11 of them) and others in Bellevue, Bothell, Issaquah, Kirkland, unincorporated King County, Lynnwood, Mercer Island, Renton, and Seattle. Crimes ranged from mail theft, car prowls, motorcycle theft, fraud, and storage burglary.

The investigation began after a Redmond car prowl report in January of 2012 in which the victim lost credit cards that were later used fraudulently. That led to the couples’ names, and police learned they were also being investigated by Bellevue and Bothell police.

A search warrant served in February of 2012 on their Bothell home discovered a large amount of stolen property, including mail, sports equipment, electronics, purses, clothing, a motorcycle, tools, a shotgun. Also found were methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

They pleaded guilty to several counts of mail theft and identify theft, both felonies and misdemeanors. Both were also sentenced to three years of supervision, several thousands dollars of restitution to victims and substance abuse treatment.

Department of Corrections records show Arne Rosander is currently incarcerated at the Washington Corrections Center in Shelton.

Bove said the case illustrates the importance of reporting all crimes, even minor ones such as car prowling, and of keeping a record of your valuables.
