Skyline High School Closed Due to Online Shooting Threat

The Issaquah School District says school officials were contacted by Sammamish Police last night, and the school has been closed today as the source of the threat to shoot students is sought.

The Issaquah School District has decided to close Skyline High School today, Sept. 20, and has canceled all school activities at the Sammamish high school in the face of an online threat that was reported yesterday.

The district released this statement to families around 7:40 a.m. this morning:

As you may or may not have heard, last night we learned of an online threat to Skyline students set to happen this morning. Working with police who are investigating the credibility of the threat, we decided to act out of an abundance of caution and close the school today. While this threat is Skyline specific, we are working closely with our other principals and police jurisdictions to ensure everyone is extra vigilant today. We have no reason to believe any other schools are in danger. However, this is definitely an unnerving reminder for everyone about potential dangers in this day and age; it is always up to families to make individual decisions about the safety of their students, and all schools have flexibility around absences during extraordinary circumstances.   We will continue to keep you updated with more information as it is available.   Please take this opportunity to give your child an extra hug this morning!
