Troopers Arrest 29 Drivers in King County for DUI on St. Patrick's Day
Authorities said the number of people arrested for DUI in King County on Thursday evening and Friday morning was more than any other for that Thursday-Friday period so far this year.
State Patrol troopers nabbed 29 motorists in King County for driving under the influence on the evening of St. Patrick's Day, Trooper Julie Startup reported Friday morning.
The arrests occurred during a 12-hour period that began at 5 pm, she said in a statement. There were no traffic-related deaths during this period.
Extra troopers patrolled highways as part of an "emphasis" patrol. She said the DUI arrests during the Thursday's 12-hour period was "more than double" what troopers have recorded for the day so far in 2011.
