Volunteer Firefighters Needed for Rural Stations

The deadline for applications has been extended to Jan. 23.

Eastside Fire & Rescue (EF&R) is seeking men and women interested in serving as volunteers for the communities of Tiger Mountain, Maple Hills, Preston, Lake Joy, and Wilderness Rim.  If you have ever wanted to be part of a team that can truly make a difference, this is your opportunity.  Eastside Fire & Rescue is looking for energetic, community-minded residents willing to assist with the delivery of emergency medical and firefighting services.

The Agency provides modern, progressive, and professional services to approximately 119,000 citizens who reside throughout the 190 square miles.  Fire, emergency medical, and special response services are provided from fifteen stations of which ten are staffed with volunteer firefighters and EMS (emergency medical services) responders who carry pagers and respond when there is an emergency in their neighborhood.

The minimum age to apply is 18.  Applicants must have good driving records and can now live outside the boundaries of EF&R but within five miles of the closest response station.  The testing process includes a written, physical ability, psychological evaluation, and an oral interview.  The Agency will provide a medical physical exam and all required clothing.
