Young Man Drowns in Snoqualmie River

Eastside Fire & Rescue responded to a drowning along with the King County Sheriff's Office Wednesday, Aug. 15, in Carnation.

On Wednesday, shortly after 3 p.m., King County Sheriff’s Deputies and East Side Fire & Rescue responded to a report of a possible drowning in the Snoqualmie River near 1550 West Snoqualmie River Road NE, in Carnation, the Sheriff's Office said in a press release.

According to the release, a 20-year-old man went swimming with a group of co-workers. At some point the young man was unable to stay afloat and slipped under the water, the Sheriff's Office said in the release.

Two boaters kayaking down the river tried to pull him up and out of the water, but it was too deep.

Eastside surface rescue got the man out of the water and rescue workers performed CPR. The victim was transported to the hospital and where he was pronounced dead.

The King County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit is conducting the investigation.

The victim's identity has not been released, but the Seattle Times reported that he is from Bothell.
