Sammamish Planning Commission to Hold Hearing on Detached Housing on Property

The Sammamish Planning Commission will hear public comments at a Thursday evening hearing about detached housing on property.

Such housing includes accessory dwelling units, cottage housing and duplexes.

The goal is to increase the opportunity for residents or property owners to build various housing types to meet demand, Rob Garwood, a city planner said in a briefing note.

But he said another goal is to ensure that this type of housing remains a "good fit" for the city.

One idea for a detached accessory dwelling unit is to remove the requirement of having a minimum of 10,000 square feet on a piece of parcel in order to build such housing, according to the city.

Cottage housing - which is in a different category - is only permitted in the Town Center area.

The city has posted a briefing note and other informationonline. Residents who have questions can contact Garwood at 425-295-0524 or rgarwood@ci.sammamish.wa.us.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m.
