Government Notes: Cheaper Gun Permits in Issaquah, Sammamish Water and Sewer Rate Hearing, and More

There's a lot going on, here's a rundown of important meetings, public hearings, and deadlines coming up Monday and Tuesday, March 19-20, in our local governments.

There's a lot going on in and around Sammamish and Issaquah, so we've compiled some of the governmental items of note for you here as you prepare for next week:

Issaquah

Issaquah Development Public Hearing Tuesday: The Issaquah Urban Village Development Commission will hold a Public Hearing on the Issaquah Highlands Preliminary Plat of Division 95, on March 20, from 7-9 p.m. at City Hall South in the Council Chambers, 135 E. Sunset Way in Issaquah. The proposal is to subdivide 3.54 acres into 38 residential lots and open space tracts. You can view the meeting materials here.

Reduced cost for concealed weapons licenses: Due to fee changes at the federal level, the cost of fingerprint checks will be reduced from $19.25 to $16.50 starting March 19, 2012. Therefore, the cost of a new Concealed Pistol License will be reduced from $55.25 to $52.50 starting March 19, 2012.

Plan to vote in the upcoming Issaquah School District Special Election? Your voter registration must be updated by Monday: Here are some important dates to remember in the run-up to the April Special Election:

  • Mar 19, 2012 Deadline for mail and online voter registrations and transfers for the April 17 Special Election
  • Mar 28, 2012 Ballots mailed for the April 17 Special Election

  • Mar 30, 2012 Accessible Voting Units and ballots available through Election Day
  • Apr 09, 2012 Deadline for in-person registration for the April 17 Special Election

Sammamish

Public hearing on rates coming up Monday at the : March 19, 6 pm, SPWSD District Office, 1510 228th Ave. SE. The purpose of the Public Hearing is to discuss the District’s proposed water and sewer rate structure modifications and revenue adjustments and receive public comment.

The current fixed water rate for a single-family home in the district is $15.12, and the proposed new rate would be $23.02, but volume rates would be reduced. Meanwhile, sewer rates would be changed to a flat rate of $25.17; currently the base rate is $6.15 with volume charges added.

The Sammamish City Council holds its regular meeting Monday night: This time, March 19, at 6:30 p.m., the council will hold a joint meeting with the Parks & Recreation Commission, at which the commission will hand off the proposed Parks Plan. The agenda is available on the city's website.
